Optimism: 'Loving yourself is an understatement'

'Loving yourself is an understatement'

Right, I don't even know how to start this post apart from say, sit down and take a DEEP BREATH.
Now SMILE.

Recently I have had a lot of people say they are struggling to cope and keep up with maintaining their emotions because COVID-19 restrictions have gotten the better of us. I can certainly say, my anxiety has increased this year, but I have found ways to cope with it.

As I stated in my 'why blog?'  post, taking chances is important. One of the reasons why I started this platform was to express my thoughts and opinions, this post will give you 5 tips to stay optimistic and self-motivated.

2020 has been a tough year for everyone, given these unprecedented times of COVID-19, lockdown, and most people's weight gain, and lack of socialising.
Firstly we need to appreciate what we have. Go with the flow, if there is something we truly want/ desire, we need to keep working towards that goal in order to achieve it. Adapt to change and be resilient.

I asked a few friends what motivates them and their responses were:
- 'The fear of failure and sense of fulfillment'
- 'Life is like this, I like this' - Harvey Specter
- 'Having a positive mindset is the key to success. For example, pin-boarding desires and goals will lead to a successful outcome. This is because you subconsciously change your mindset.'

TIP 1 WRITE DOWN YOUR TASKS/ GOALS/ FEELINGS: Structure and planning are important.
- As I said in my dyslexia post, breaking things down and pinpointing goals always helps.
- If you look at work or your day as a massive chunk, it can be hard to find a balance, that will stress you out.
SO, if you take things in smaller chunks, your mind and body calm down too. It becomes easier to think things through clearly again and easier to find an optimistic and constructive perspective.

TIP 2 CHANGE YOUR OUTLOOK ON LIFE: Have an optimistic attitude that will over time become a norm and more stable so that the world is seen in a positive way. (Just like you do when things work out or when the weather is good).

TIP 3 'LET YOUR SILENCE BE YOUR SUCCESS':
- I am a true believer for this because when focusing on your goals, its that whole mindset and the subconscious thing where you'll work to achieve it. Some people may beg to differ, but don't let all your secrets and successes out because not everyone will be happy for your successes.
- Know when to block out that negative energy, now this ties in with the next tip.

TIP 4 CULTIVATE AND SURROUND YOURSELF WITH SUPPORTIVE PEOPLE:
Cultivate: develop or improve, promotion of growth and development.
- You know that saying that everyone knows 'choose your friends wisely because they reflect who you are' your friends portray who you are'
- Your friends and family will be your support, you may think they hate you or always tell you off/ pick on you but really everything they do is usually for the better of us.
- IF you need to cut people off, then let them walk out, you need to do what is best for you.
-- you do not need negative energy from someone or something, try to detox from your phone and social media because it plays a massive part in someone's mood. I can literally go for hours or a day without my phone. eg. I started to put it on airplane mode and just leave it upstairs whilst I spend quality time with my family. - try it and tell me what you think!!!

TIP 5 EXERCISE REGULARLY, EAT and SLEEP WELL:
- GET UP AND GO FOR IT. The toughest part is getting up and started but once you hack though those first 10mins then you can go on forever.
- The key is to focus on the end goal whether it is to stay fit and healthy or to get slimmer and tone/ bulk up.
- Water is your best friend.
- The healthier you eat, the more energy you will find you have, if you overload on carbs and sweets/ chocolates and do not keep a healthy balance, your mood will automatically be affected.
- Make sure you get that beauty sleep, resting your mind is necessary.

Lesson: Learn to be happy and accept yourself because if you cant take care of yourself, don't expect to take on others.
